I have been moving forward a lot these past months. I moved to Graz, started working.
While I am adapting to those changes in my life quite well (I still do a lot of costume Crafting in my free time, though I cannot show what I am working on yet), My Larp Character is not as lucky. Elrian has become a respected leader but is now finally past the point where all those responsibilities are starting to crush her. Moringaard with all my fellow elves was a very emotional and combat intense larp. And still, I cannot remember when I had this much time for music on a larp.
Also, “Harp-triforce” is now a specific piece of furniture.
Thank you, Eva Jaksch, for taking these photos!
My shift for the watch this year was early in the morning, at a time where all the nightcrawlers are long gone and the early birds have not yet risen. In other words: Nothing happened in this watch.
So to keep boredom away we took a harp with us and took turns making music and watching.
Thank you to Daniel Schmitt for the taking the photos. Editing was done by myself.
I started Elrian’s Diary in summer 2011, continuously documenting my Larp character’s adventures.
After four years and 70 pages it is now halfway complete.
Here is the working process of a recent page.
After sketching the content of the page – which I often do while in-character –
I rewrite the text and outline the illustration in ink.
Next is removing unnecessary graphite and colouring the page with watercolour.
Sometimes I add some details in white or silver afterwards.
Not all the pages are this elaborate and well planned. Some are just scribbled notes I took in character and twice I even ripped out pages when my character wanted to get rid of them.
